Hope to see you at Campfire Ball on May 19…here’s the news release hot off the press!

Relive Your Summer Camp Days at Campfire Ball

5th Annual Event to Benefit Children’s Oncology Services, Inc.

Recall your favorite summer camp memories? On May 19, relive those days with a city twist at Children’s Oncology Services, Inc.’s 5th Annual Campfire Ball at Venue One. All of your favorite camp treats will be served with gourmet infusions, look for ‘smores, grilled cheese, hot dogs and much more created by Cork Catering with generous donations from Hub 51, Theory, Bridgehouse Tavern, Cocomori Cake Pops and Marianberry Cookies. Our top shelf bar inclusive of spiked bug juice and served up by local celebrity bartenders will spice up this mixer and help send kids with cancer to camp.

On the dance floor, guests will find DJ Matt Roan spinning tunes, and the night will include a sing along with a favorite camp song or two lead by a couple of V.I.C’s (very important campers who have attended our camps). During the night campers can venture into the wildly popular Digital Photobooth by MVS Studio. Plus local media celebrities such as Susan Carlson (CBS 2), Kori Chambers (FOX), Nina Chantele (KISS-FM, Windy City Live), Kris Gutierrez (CBS 2) Lauren Jiggetts (NBC 5), Andrea Metcalf (fitness personality, Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is-NBC host) will serve up drinks including Bug Juice, the cocktail of the night. Campfire Ball will have plenty of unique silent auction items and a wine raffle that will get any enthusiast toasting the night away!

For adventurous guests, the party will continue long into the night with the after party at RPM Italian (52 W. Illinois St.). Everyone should have no trouble finding a safe ride home thanks to a generous donation from Uber Car Service. Guests of Campfire Ball will enjoy 50% off each ride and feel good on the way home knowing that $10.00 of what they do pay goes directly back to benefit Children’s Oncology Services, Inc.

“Campfire Ball is a time to rally to send more kids with pediatric cancer to camp,” said Rachel Drescher, event chair of Campfire Ball and camp counselor. “At Campfire Ball, the guests are able to see the important work that Children’s Oncology Services does all year long for children with cancer, and how it changes their lives. The best part is that the organization is a small but mighty nonprofit who believes that a diagnosis of cancer should not prevent a child from experiencing the simple joys of childhood.”

So come on over to COSI’s chic version of summer camp to benefit One Step At A Time programs, which provide camp experiences and educational programs that allow children with cancer to just be kids. For every $1,000 the nonprofit raises, it sends one child to One Step At A Time summer camp in Lake Geneva, where they are with their peers and a fully staffed medical team. Campers can enjoy water sports, boating, hiking and camp outs under the stars.

The event is chaired by Rachel Drescher, Jordan Izsak and Michelle Weiler. Campfire Ball is generously sponsored by: Cork Catering, Green Planet Water, Hub 51, RPM Italian, Goose Island, Exhale, Uber Car Service, VIP Valet, Kiehl’s Northbridge, Bridgehouse Tavern, Theory, Cocomori Cake Pops, Marianberry Cookies, Crossfader King and The Digital Photobooth.

ABOUT CHILDREN’S ONCOLOGY SERVICE, INC. (COSI)

Children’s Oncology Services, Inc. (COSI) is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of children and adolescents diagnosed with cancer. Through the One Step At A Time programs, COSI offers camp experiences and educational programs throughout the year that allow children with cancer to just be kids. Founded on the principle of volunteerism, all programs are run by counselors, medical staff and administrators who generously donate their time and services. Tuition for all One Step At A Time programs is based on a family’s own assessment of their ability to pay and no one is ever turned away. Tuition is set at a fraction of the actual cost of camp and is often partially or completely waived.
